"How to describe "keep-er: Sydney Keane Series: The Beginning" other than to say it is by far one of the most unique and captivating novels I've read in a long time! ... The author, Laryl Dixon, pulls us into the story right from the beginning pages, and skillfully narrates a wide-ranging storyline full of complex and deeply emotional and challenging issues.  ... Great character development and solid writing. A memorable read and a ‘keeper’ for sure. ... Will be curious to see where Ms. Dixon takes Sydney next" (5 stars) Karen Matthews-Goodreads, Shelfari; Indie Book Reviewers

"Oh wow, I was in no way prepared for how much this book would totally affect me! ... I never wanted to stop reading it, even late into the evening. I was totally interested by the world Ms. Dixon creates and the characters’ lives that seemed realistic and authentic, yet something that is too often not talked about or stays hidden in the shadows.  ...  Too much happens in this book to cover properly in a short review, so you really just have to read it for yourself... you will not be disappointed! An important book with relevant themes and valuable resources at the end. Recommend." (5 stars) Gillian Hancock-Goodreads, Shelfari; Indie Book Reviewers

"This novel came highly recommended to me and for good reason. Laryl Dixon did a fantastic job of laying the foundation for the main character in her series, Sydney Keane. I got to know Sydney, where she came from, and what made her who she is, no doubt. And I’m a fan…a big one! ... I appreciate Dixon telling her story, but not sensationalizing it to excruciating detail. She makes you feel, yes, which is what I love about reading a great story. ... I must say that I thought I was sitting down to an all too familiar story, but I was wrong. ... My advice? Read it, read it, read it. You’ll be glad you did. This is one author I intend to follow. She’s got something to say and I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book in the Sydney Keane Series!(5 stars) houstonrrgirl-Amazon reader

"The goosebumps have not stopped since finishing the book today. I wanted to start reading the second book immediately. The author's descriptive of all the characters really pulls you into this story of highly sensitive issues dealing not only with resolve on a personal level, but also dealing with the laws and the judicial system as well. The author does an outstanding job raising awareness and seeking justice for children and adults who are, or have been, subjected to abuse and manipulation. After reading this book and all the Resources the author references, her intent to help others is clear. “KEEP-ER” going Ms. Dixon, as I am looking forward to reading your next book!!!" "This is an amazing story that draws you in and touches a deeply personal yet universal chord. Twists and turns keep the story moving along at a great pace. Sydney's events of her childhood through her adulthood recount her experiences that helped form who she would eventually become. Her efforts to get justice takes a brutal toll on her, finally putting her in dangerous territory. Elijah's character demonstrates remarkable resilience. The end result offers intense emotions into a story of secrets and courage. I highly recommend reading this novel." (5 stars) AdaKay, Amazon reader

"... I loved how seamlessly everything flowed in "keep-er: The Sydney Keane Series" by Laryl Dixon. It had it all, seriously...romance, drama, humor, danger, friends, enemies...all come together to create an unforgettable, and ultimately fulfilling rollercoaster ride that I won't soon forget. Warning, that there are some serious issues discussed that may upset more sensitive readers and while it is a very important and powerful message, it is one that doesn't hold anything back. Recommend for adults only..." (4 stars) Laura Clarke-Goodreads, Shelfari; Indie Book Reviewers

"... I think that "keep-er: Sydney Keane Series" is one of the more well thought out and relevant books I've read in a while. I loved how Ms. Dixon writes very descriptively and with great passion. ... Nicely done! Ready for the next one in the series! Note, this has some disturbing subject matter at times and deals with some harsh realities. Not gratuitous at all, just a fair warning." (4-5 stars) Sam Ryan-Goodreads, Shelfari; Indie Book Reviewers

"... Read this book, even if it's not your normal type. A fulfilling read and a good experience overall, even if some parts are a bit tough to take. I give props to the author for tackling such sensitive subjects in a respectful manner and for the notes at the end regarding exploitation and abuse. Hopefully it will help people." "... author voice is almost everything, and it will make or break a novel and my enjoyment of it. ... What impressed me the most here was that I thought that Ms. Dixon's writing style has the confidence and delightful quirkiness of a much more seasoned pro... The characters had that elusive 'flavor' that only comes when they are fully realized and fleshed out, something that is not easily done, especially in a novel of this depth and magnitude of complex issues. A great read. Recommend for older teens through adults." (4 stars) Darlene Cupp-Goodreads, Shelfari; Indie Book Reviewers

"I knew by the 25% mark that I would really love "keep-er..." and it would go on my "favorites" shelf, and I was right! ... I was so impressed with the writing and the author's level of detailing on almost every single aspect of the various subplots, and with the depth of the character development. A powerful, unpredictable journey unlike any I've read before. Recommend." (4-5 stars) Marcella Gonzales-Goodreads, Shelfari; Indie Book Reviewers

"... I was totally hooked and didn't want to stop until I reached the end. I would describe this as a drama, but there was great dialogue (my favorite part of the book) and crazy plot twists, and great character development. ... I like how the author writes in a way that you can totally picture everything, almost like we are watching a movie.  Hope this author writes more in the future, I'd read it." "I read this book by Laryl Dixon and I found myself completely transported to Sydney's life, completely forgetting where I was (for better or worse). A modern day novel with tangents and subplots than many others I've read, with a large case of characters each of whom have their own stories to tell and conflicts to overcome. Gritty, honest, deep, intense, disturbing, shocking, uplifting and empowering... Way too much to delve into here, but this book I won't soon forget, and if you are looking for a unique take on literary fiction with a timely, important message, look no further. Great writing too!" "Laryl Dixon has an incredible way with characters; her descriptions are vivid yet simple and not overdone; you see what the characters are seeing, you feel what they are feeling; you feel like you are there. ... Each time I did have to stop reading, I found myself thinking and pondering on what I had read, and what might happen next. There is a lot of language, and some shocking and sensitive subject matter. But this is what makes the book so powerful. ... Would recommend to fans of edgy fiction." (5 stars) Steph Coleman-Goodreads, Shelfari; Indie Book Reviewers
